Jordan Henderson provides future hint as Rangers eye transfer
Rangers have been linked with a summer move for Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson.
Plenty of changes are expected at Ibrox in the coming weeks, with new owners and a new manager expected to walk through the door.
There will also be new signings to replace a number of players who have parted ways with Gers for good.

Henderson remains non-committal over future
Henderson’s contract at Ajax runs out in the summer of 2026, so he’s got another year left at the Dutch club.
He has been linked with a move to Ibrox and was thus asked about his future ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The former Liverpool captain admits that Ajax have to make a tough decision this summer and he does not know which direction they want to go in.
Henderson left Merseyside in 2023 as he spent a year in the Middle East at Al-Ettifaq before moving to Ajax.
The 34-year-old said about his future: “It depends on which direction the club wants to go. They have to make tough decisions.”

Rangers must avoid signing Henderson this summer
Although Henderson is an experienced and accomplished player, his signing could raise concerns about squad balance and team dynamics.
The 34-year-old is primarily a central midfielder known for his leadership and work rate, but he may not perfectly fit the tactical setup or the specific needs of the Rangers‘ squad.
Additionally, his age and recent injury history could impact his consistency and availability, which are critical factors in league campaigns and European fixtures.
Financial considerations also play a role, as signing Henderson might involve a significant transfer fee and wage demands, potentially limiting resources for other crucial signings or youth development.
Moreover, integrating a player who’s played in the Premier League but is now in his mid-30s, into the Scottish Premiership can sometimes pose adaptation challenges.
While his experience and leadership are valuable, Gers must weigh whether his signing aligns with their strategic goals, squad composition and long-term planning.
