Reports from Spain now suggest that Davide Ancelotti is close to a move to Ibrox, and the Italian will want to make multiple changes to the squad.
Ancelotti to sanction triple Rangers exit immediately
Rangers’ underperformance in the Scottish Premiership this season proves that a squad overhaul is desperately needed again.
Celtic’ domestic dominance has lasted for years, and Ancelotti will need to be ruthless if he is to catch his Glaswegian rivals.
Three Rangers players are already being linked with exits at Ibrox, days after the likes of Ianis Hagi and Leon Balogun were confirmed to be leaving.
Kieran Dowell and Ben Davies have both been linked to Birmingham permanently after their successful loan spells in League One.
On top of this, Nedim Bajrami is wanted by teams in the Serie A after a weak start to his Rangers career.
If Ancelotti is appointed, he will surely be looking to sell the trio immediately.
Bajrami has shown no signs that he is able to adapt in the Scottish Premiership over the season, and there is no way he will have the ability to challenge for the title, given his weaknesses.
Dowell and Davies are also getting to the backend of their careers and are unlikely to ever make an impact in the squad, showing how money has been wasted.
The Italian will need to be brutal, and he has an open goal to clear the books straightaway.
