Everton chief agrees move elsewhere in Rangers appointment twist
Kevin Thelwell is expected to lead a significant overhaul at Rangers.
The 49ers Enterprises group have brought the former Everton man to Govan to help sort out the pile of issues that they are set to inherit when their takeover is completed.
The Ibrox outfit needs a huge revamp in terms of the playing squad and the new manager is yet to be decided upon to replace interim boss Barry Ferguson.
Another major concern to address is the lack of academy talent that the Gers have produced in recent years.

Thelwell ally will not join Rangers after Everton exit
Thelwell was keen to bring the Everton academy director, Gareth Prosser, to Auchenhowie with him, according to the Daily Record (23 April).
However, that does not seem to be a likely outcome after the 51-year-old’s Blues departure was confirmed on 23 May.
A statement released by the Goodison Park outfit claims that the former Wolves man is set to take an opportunity overseas, which would rule out the Gers.
Rangers will have to find a new option
The ex-Toffees man was the prime candidate to lead the Light Blues’ academy into a new era under Thelwell’s leadership.
His extensive CV in youth football, with the Premier League outfit, Wolves and Derby County made him a great option to overhaul the youth ranks at Auchenhowie.
The Gers have failed to incorporate youth players into their first team, with Ross McCausland the only graduate to make a real impact in the senior squad.

There was hope that Thelwell could tempt Prosser north of the border to help change that, and help the Bears to produce better quality players that could either be sold for significant profit or help bridge the gap to arch-rivals Celtic on the pitch.
At the moment, it is not good enough and it appeared that the new sporting director had recognised those concerns, given his interest in reuniting with his former colleague.
However, he will be devastated at the latest development as Prosser looks set to move elsewhere and pass on the opportunity to lead the academy revolution in Govan.
