Ferguson expects Souness-like impact from manager Rangers want to hire – Exclusive
Graeme Souness’ time at Rangers is remembered fondly by many, even all these years on.
Indeed, so revered is the former midfielder and manager by the Gers that he is still asked for his say on new managerial appointments at Ibrox.
While Souness’ days in the dugout have long since passed, a player who played under the legendary figure believes one of the names linked with the Rangers managerial job could have a similar impact.

Rangers managerial search could be down to two names
Rangers have been linked with an array of names since Philippe Clement was sacked, but the search may well now be down to just two names.
Steven Gerrard, who led Rangers to Scottish Premiership title glory, and Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti are believed to be the last men standing.
Ancelotti has zero experience of managing at senior level, although he has worked with top clubs such as Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
He has worked closely with father Carlo Ancelotti in each of those jobs, with the Italian considered one of – if not the – greatest managers to have ever lived.

Ancelotti backed to bring big names to Ibrox
Davide’s family connections are something that particularly excite Derek Ferguson, who believes big-name players will be attracted to Ibrox like they were back in the day.
“The contacts he will have available to him is unbelievable. That’s the beauty when you bring in a new manager,” Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News.

“Jose Mourinho was previously linked with the job and beyond him being an excellent manager, it’s also the players he could bring – the same as Ancelotti.
“That name alone would attract players. I go back to my days when Souness was in charge of the club and was able to bring in international players.
“The only reason they came, in my opinion, is because of Souness. That’s what I think would happen with Ancelotti. My God, players would surely love to come and play for him.”
