Rod Stewart hits out in Jim White text after what was said about Rangers and Celtic

Rod Stewart was less than impressed with a Celtic remark made live on air while Rangers were being discussed.

This season will go down as one to forget for Rangers, who failed to win any silverware due to the shortcomings they showcased domestically.

Aside from an impressive run in the Europa League, fans had very little to shout home about at Ibrox, and the ambition will be to change that next season.

For far too long now, the Light Blues have looked incapable of challenging Celtic, though a claim made live on talkSPORT sparked debate as to where that competition may lie next season.

Rangers have a lot of work to do this summer

First and foremost, Rangers need to find a solution to the managerial situation at Ibrox after it was confirmed that Barry Ferguson would be leaving.

Only then will they be able to put any real plans in place for the summer transfer window, which will play a deciding role in where they are able to challenge next season.

Of course, challenging Celtic is where they want to be, and it’s fair to say that Stewart wasn’t impressed with a comment made by Danny Murphy live on talkSPORT.

Murphy said: “It’s not insurmountable to get to as good as [Celtic’s] level with a few good buys, they’re a decent side.”

Jim White revealed that Stewart had sent him a text that he doesn’t appreciate the comments suggesting Celtic aren’t very good.

Ibrox needs to witness change this summer

Recruitment and appointments will be the two things that determine Rangers’ success next season, and it is vitally important that they get both aspects right.

Especially the former has been poor for years now, but the managers appointed have done little to lift the Light Blues to the level required.

With the season now over, all of their focus will be on the summer and the decisions that will need to be made within it. Rangers will be afforded no margin for error, showcasing just how big of a period this is going to be in Glasgow.
