Jack Butland reacts as Rangers exit announced
Rangers have wasted no time in getting to work, despite having no manager at the helm yet.
The 49ers Enterprises are still waiting to complete their takeover at Ibrox, leaving some uncertainty in Glasgow as the season has come to an end.
The announcement of a new manager is expected to be confirmed within the coming days, which should then set the wheels in motion for work over the summer transfer window.
With Jack Butland having seen his role in the side dramatically decrease in the final weeks of the campaign, his future now looks very uncertain.

Butland reacts to Leon Balogun exit
Although he started the season as the number one choice between the sticks, having held that title for some time, Butland found himself pushed out of the team by Liam Kelly this term after a series of errors.
Kelly took his chance well, with a penalty save in the Europa League on his call-up to the squad and has since been the new favourite, albeit Butland was reintroduced for the final couple of games.
Therefore, at 32-years-old, Butland’s future at Ibrox now looks uncertain, especially in a summer where plenty of change is expected.
Although no boss is in place as of yet, the Gers have already announced that Leon Balogun, Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi have left the club upon the expiry of their contracts.
Player | Appearances 2024/25 |
Balogun | 20 |
Lawrence | 18 |
Hagi | 24 |
Balogun took to Instagram to make his honest feelings known, hitting out at Rangers, citing how he would have liked to have had the chance to say a proper goodbye.
Butland reacted to the message by liking the post on Instagram.
Rangers set for plenty of change
This is likely to just be the start of the change that is to come at Rangers this summer, with plenty of work to be done in preparation for next season.
You can understand Balogun’s frustration and his teammate seemingly empathises, while knowing he could soon see the same fate.
It will be interesting to see what decision is made when it comes to the goalkeeper who has lost some of his spark this season.
Kelly has stepped up, but whether a completely new solution will be identified in the net is a possibility that can’t be ruled out.
There are several players, like Butland, who will no doubt be looking towards the transfer window with some nerves over their futures.
