Chris Jack names two more Rangers players who are set to leave Ibrox after announcement

Rangers have announced the departure of several senior players from Ibrox already, upon the end of their contracts.

Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence and Leon Balogun are all departing Rangers, with the defender sharing his anger at not being able to say goodbye properly.

The 49ers are yet to settle on a new manager at Ibrox, although once an appointment is made, there is set to be much more work done at Rangers.

Regardless of who is at the helm, though, Chris Jack claims that there will certainly be more departures in Glasgow.

Rangers loanees to make permanent Ibrox exit

As Rangers announced exits from Ibrox at the end of the season, it was also said that the likes of Vaclav Cerny will be leaving, with no further update on a possible permanent return.

Rangers supporters will no doubt be keen to see if a deal for Cerny can be sealed with Wolfsburg when the 49ers complete their takeover.

However, there are other players who need to be focused on first, with Kieran Dowell and Ben Davies returning to Glasgow after the expiration of their loan deals with Birmingham City.

The pair have played fairly regularly in the League One side that gained promotion as champions, but have a year remaining on their contracts at Ibrox and Birmingham have shown no early signs of trying to make the deals permanent.

Nevertheless, speaking on the Rangers Review (21 May), Jack claimed there is no future for either player, regardless of who comes in as manager.

He said: “These guys, they won’t be back in Rangers jerseys. They have no future at this club.

“I think there’s been enough evidence over their respective careers to show that they’re not good enough. They will not be part of this Rangers squad going forward. They’ve had more than enough chances, more than enough opportunities to prove themselves.

“If the new manager decided that Ben Davies was the answer at centre-half, questions would be asked straightaway.”

Rangers have to offload this summer

As Jack says, both Dowell and Davies have had enough opportunities to prove themselves to their parent club, but both have failed to do so.

Therefore, when the 49ers are looking to push the Gers forward and increase the levels of ambition at Ibrox, there is no way that either player can be seen as part of the solution at Ibrox.

Although they spent the season with a Birmingham side that won promotion, it’s no secret that the Blues were aided by a massive budget rather than it being an impressive and organic progression.

The quality of players has to be increased, and with so much deadweight in the current Light Blues squad, yet another overhaul is needed.

With a year left on both contracts, it will be interesting to see who Rangers can sell the pair to, convincing them that they are good enough for life elsewhere.
