Jordan Henderson ‘agrees’ to join Steven Gerrard at Rangers as speculation emerges
Jordan Henderson could potentially join Steven Gerrard at Rangers as a new manager is close to being appointed at Ibrox.
Gretar Steinsson and Kevin Thelwell have been tasked with looking for a new head coach to lead the Gers next season.
Barry Ferguson has left his interim role at the Light Blues, and Gerrard is one of the candidates to replace him at Ibrox.
With the Liverpool icon rumoured to be returning to the Bears soon, there have been suggestions that Henderson may follow him to Glasgow.

Rangers move agreed as Henderson to join Gerrard backroom staff
There has been speculation that Henderson has agreed to leave Ajax and join the Gers in a player-coach capacity, Keith Jackson says.
The Daily Record journalist disclosed that there have been claims that Gerrard’s backroom staff may have already been selected at Ibrox, with his former Liverpool teammate joining him.

Jackson also revealed that there’s talk of Steven Davis joining as the 44-year-old head coach’s assistant at the Glaswegian outfit.
Speaking on Hotline Live (20 May), the journalist said: “The momentum around Steven Gerrard has grown. The noise has become deafening. I think there are even suggestions that his backroom is selected and that Steven Davis will join him as number two.
“And Jordan Henderson has agreed to move from Ajax to take up a player-coach capacity. And there are even suggestions doing the rounds that this appointment could be made officially at Ibrox tomorrow.”
Ibrox may need Henderson leadership next season
Gerrard may be seen as a preferred candidate at Ibrox, but it remains to be seen whether the appointment will be approved in the coming days.
The former England international’s return to the Gers could potentially be more palatable for the fans if Michael Beale doesn’t accompany him.
With the Light Blues playing their final game of the season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them expedite the appointment of a new head coach.
Ferguson seemingly wanted to stay at Rangers, and his departure arguably indicates that the boardroom have already decided on the next manager.
It wouldn’t have made sense for the Gers’ hierarchy to let the ex-interim boss leave if they didn’t already have the appointment of the next permanent manager close.
Henderson has shown his leadership skills over the years with Liverpool and the Three Lions, which is something he could bring to Ibrox.
Despite the 34-year-old’s age, he still has the quality to play for the Light Blues and contribute to their success.
The English midfielder has had a mixed spell at Ajax and may want a change of environment soon.
