Chris Sutton takes brutal Rangers dig after Jamie Vardy to Ibrox transfer claim

Chris Sutton has blasted Rangers after suggestions of Jamie Vardy moving to Ibrox in the upcoming transfer window.

The ex-England international will leave Leicester City at the end of the season once his contract expires, and he’ll leave as a legend after scoring 200 goals in 500 appearances for the Foxes.

Vardy has been linked with a move to Ibrox in recent weeks, and there are claims that he’d be a decent addition to the Gers’ squad.

Cyriel Dessers led the line under Barry Ferguson, but with the interim manager’s departure, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Nigerian ace.

Rangers transfer suggestion regarding Vardy daft

Sutton took a sly dig at the Light Blues after claims of Vardy potentially moving to Ibrox next summer.

The Athletic journalist Rory Smith asked the ex-Celtic forward whether the Leicester icon may move to the Bears in the upcoming transfer window.

Sutton termed the suggestion daft and hinted at the Gers not being successful enough for the 38-year-old striker to want a move.

Speaking on Monday Night Club (19 May), Smith asked: “What about Rangers, Chris?”

Sutton responded: “Let’s not get daft. [Vardy] will want to go to a successful club.”

Vardy would be great addition at Ibrox

Vardy would arguably be a great addition at Ibrox, with the veteran centre-forward still possessing impressive goalscoring qualities.

While the 38-year-old has lost some of his lethal pace over the years, he still undoubtedly has a keen eye for goal, something the Glaswegian outfit could use.

Fans will want to see drastic changes at the Light Blues once the US takeover is complete, and the ex-England international may be an enticing option for the prospective new owners to make a statement.

Dessers’ goalscoring numbers at Rangers have been decent this season, but the fanbase is still frustrated with his apparent wastefulness in the final third.

Hamza Igamane broke onto the scene midway through the campaign and looked to have cemented his place in the starting lineup, but his performances of late have been underwhelming.

Danilo looks decent whenever he plays, but the Brazilian forward has struggled with consistent fitness issues at Ibrox.

The Gers evidently need more firepower up front, and Vardy can provide that.
