Ally McCoist moots ‘inevitable’ development after Rangers manager news
Rangers fans are waiting patiently for news of movement at Ibrox this summer, praying for the 49ers Enterprises to complete a takeover.
It has been a long season for the Gers, with Barry Ferguson having overseen proceedings until the end of the campaign, following Philippe Clement’s sacking.
Ferguson’s tenure had left doubt over what the future could hold in terms of who is set to be at the helm, with debate about whether the interim boss could take the full-time job.

Ally McCoist responds to Rangers manager developments
As Rangers wait for their takeover to be completed, there is plenty to ponder about what the future holds.
One thing is for sure, though: Ferguson won’t be the man taking Rangers forward permanently, with his exit being confirmed.
Davide Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers of late, with an opportunity to take his first solo role away from his dad.
Although the future is uncertain as it stands, Ally McCoist has admitted that he is not surprised by the developments at Ibrox.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (19 May, 7:15am), when asked by Jeff Stelling if Ferguson’s exit was inevitable, McCoist said: “I think it was Jeff.
“I publicly said, I genuinely believe Barry did a good job steadying the ship, I always felt new ownership wanted to go in another direction, and a new man would come in.
“But I would thank Barry for his efforts and his staff, I really do. He played the cards he was dealt, and I thought he really handled himself well, Jeff, interviews and things like that.
“It was a very difficult job for him, not his players, but I always felt there was an inevitability about a new man coming in.
“I would be lying if I said I know a lot about Davide Ancelotti other than the obvious, but he’s obviously been with his Dad a long, long time. He feels now’s the time to go by himself, yeah, I don’t have a problem. I go into it with an open mind.”
Rangers in limbo waiting for takeover
The season is over, and now Rangers are playing a waiting game after another disastrous year.
The takeover is expected to go through in June, which will then surely kickstart a string of announcements setting out what the future is going to look like for the Light Blues.
As McCoist says, Ferguson’s departure isn’t a massive shock, given the level of investment and growth that is expected under new ownership.
The Americans are expected to change everything, but it won’t happen overnight, as soon as the new manager is appointed, no matter who it is.

However, Ancelotti could also be a risky appointment in his own right, and the 49ers have to make a real choice about the immediate direction they want to take the club in.
There are plenty of decisions to be made, but one thing’s for sure: once the 49ers are in control, no time can be wasted in preparing for next term.
