Rangers Women player ratings v Hibs – 3/10 star terrible in Ibrox loss

Rangers failed to lift the SWPL1 title as they lost 1-0 against Hibernian at Ibrox.

Jo Potter’s side needed to beat the Edinburgh side if they were to lift their second title and overtake Hibs.

However, the visitors dealt with everything Rangers threw at them before Linzie Taylor netted the winner mid-way through the second half to win the league and send the Gers third and out of the Champions League spots.

It was a scrappy first half, with chances at both ends at Ibrox

Mia McAulay had two great chances to put Rangers in front, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Hibs also posed a threat and forced Jenna Fife into two good saves to keep the game level at the break.

Rangers continued to have a slow start in the second half, and had another scare when Kirsten Reilly smashed a striker off the bar from 25-yards.

Hibs then took the lead mid-way through the second half as Linzi Taylor volleyed the ball beyond Jenna Fife.

Potter’s side continued to push for a goal but remained frustrated.

Laura Rafferty was then sent off in the dying seconds, as they eventually fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Now, Ibrox News has rated the players after the result.

Jo Potter’s game management was terrible v Hibernian

Plenty went wrong for Rangers at Ibrox. Throughout the entire match, they simply could not break down a stubborn Hibs backline.

While the attack did create the occassional chance, it was rare, as the hosts continued to be wasteful in possession.

Yet, throughout all of this, Potter refused to make changes.

It took until the 71st minute for the hosts to make their first substitutes, while the visitors had already made multiple.

Even when Rangers went behind, it took almost another 15 minutes after the opener for more changes to happen.

While the players didn’t perform to the occasion, Potter has no one to blame but herself as she failed to make key tactical changes throughout the match in important moments.
