Leon Balogun will ‘never play for Rangers again’ after what happened v Hibernian

Rangers drew 2-2 with Hibernian in controversial circumstances as their miserable season drew to a close at Easter Road.

Nicolas Raskin had a goal wrongfully not awarded, but struck in the second half to add to Cyriel Dessers’ opener in a frustrating draw on Saturday.

Rangers ended a poor season with yet more dropped points, and it was a tough afternoon as they were dealt another injury blow.

Leon Balogun started the game, but lasted just 10 minutes before coming off with an injury, which could now determine his future at Ibrox.

Balogun comes off injured for Rangers

Rangers were frustrated as Balogun went down with an injury problem, and was substituted for Robin Propper just 10 minutes into the game at Easter Road.

Propper was a disaster as the much-criticised centre-back could have done better on both goals, and both defenders face uncertain futures.

Balogun is out of contract at the end of the season, but recently admitted that he would love to extend his stay at Ibrox.

The 36-year-old has impressed when fit, but he has suffered from injuries throughout the campaign, and his latest problem at Easter Road shows that Rangers have to make a ruthless decision over the veteran.

Rangers must not hand new contract to Balogun

Rangers certainly need to bolster their defensive line, but they need reliable options at the back.

While Balogun has been solid and provides a lot of experience in the dressing room, his injury record means he is no longer reliable throughout a season.

At 36, his injuries could only hold him back further, and there is certainly no way he can be considered even a third-choice option.

Despite his desire to stay, Rangers need to clear their squad out, and Balogun should be one of those on the chopping block, as the Gers should now target younger players.

The Nigerian has been a good servant for Rangers over the years, making 114 appearances in all competitions, but his career at Ibrox now looks set to end in heartbreak following his injury on what is likely to be his final game.
