Hibernian star did something which ‘defies logic’ in 2-2 draw v Rangers
Rangers finished their season with a 2-2 draw at Hibernian, but it was nowhere near the dead rubber that was expected at Easter Road.
Cyriel Dessers and Nicolas Raskin struck in both halves, but they were pegged back as Kieran Dowie and Martin Boyle replied to both of their goals.
Rangers were furious as Raskin should also have had a goal in the first half immediately before Dowie scored, with the ball seemingly crossing the line, something VAR say they couldn’t prove.
The visitors pushed for a late winner at Easter Road, but they found themselves frustrated as they fell to another draw to end a miserable campaign.

Jordan Smith praised for what he did v Rangers
Hibernian star Jordan Smith was culpable for Dessers’ opening goal, but he transformed himself mid-game to put in an outstanding performance.
The goalkeeper kept Rangers at bay despite the visitors having several chances to win the game, and he made some superb saves in the closing stages.
Player | Club | Goals |
Cyriel Dessers | Rangers | 18 |
Daizen Maeda | Celtic | 16 |
Simon Murray | Dundee | 16 |
Martin Boyle | Hibernian | 15 |
Hibernian TV commentator Cliff Pike heaped praise on Smith for his display after two outstanding saves from Dessers and Danilo.
“Absolutely incredible save. That is absolutely outstanding. Jordan Smith continues to defy logic,” Pike stated on commentary during the final minutes of the game.

Rangers need to improve their finishing
Converting their chances into goals has been a huge problem for Rangers throughout the season, and it cost them yet more points against Hibernian.
Dessers did score, but he missed several chances, some due to Smith’s brilliance in goal, but Rangers fans know that he needs to improve in front of goal.
It was a disastrous season for Rangers, but while the game against Hibernian meant little in terms of the Scottish Premiership table, it summed up their profligacy in front of goal.
Whoever replaces Barry Ferguson as manager will have to address the attacking ability within the squad, be it through signings or coaching, if Rangers are to challenge for the title next season.
Rangers are closing in on the signing of Oumar Camara, and the teenage attacker could add more clinical finishing to the squad if given the chance at senior level.
