Cyriel Dessers exit point made live on BBC after ‘unbelievable’ Rangers reveal

Cyriel Dessers was on target as Rangers were held 2-2 by Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

It did not take long for the forward to strike, bagging his goal in the second minute of the game.

Barry Ferguson’s side will feel aggrieved that they had a second goal ruled out at 1-0 after Nicolas Raskin’s effort appeared to cross the line.

As Dessers scored his 18th league goal of the season, points about his future were made live on air.

Dessers Rangers exit discussed during Hibs clash

Rangers have endured a tough campaign, but Dessers has been a bright spark for the Glasgow club.

Domestically, the Gers’ form has not been up to standard, and they have been some way off their old foes Celtic.

In Europe, the Ibrox outfit have fared much better, but they were defeated by Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Dessers has been in sensational goalscoring form for Rangers and has now scored more than Celtic’s Daizen Maeda.

After he notched his 18th goal of the season, Stephen McGinn chimed in with some words about his potential exit on BBC Radio Scotland (17 May, 12:37pm).

However, with great form comes great interest, and it would be no surprise if clubs are lining up a move for the 30-year-old.

When McGinn was reminded of just how many league goals Dessers now has this season, McGinn said: “Unbelievable. And still over the course of the summer, I’m sure there will be some sort of interest in Dessers.

“And I think over the summer, in pubs and restaurants, there’ll be some Rangers fans split, ‘Should we sell him, should we not sell him?'”

Rangers should keep hold of Dessers

Given that Dessers is currently the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers should aim to keep him for another season at least.

The 30-year-old has just over two years remaining on his current deal and would be worth a punt for another season.

This term, he has improved on his goal tally and also has more goal contributions for the Scottish side.

Of course, with new owners comes fresh decisions, and they might decide they want to invest in a new striker.

However, Rangers should stick to their guns and build a side around Dessers, who has at least another good season in him.
