Chris Sutton takes needless dig at Rangers favourite from Celtic Park
Rangers will wonder what might have been as they take on Hibernian on the final day of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
The Gers have little to play for other than pride at Easter Road, while 51 miles away the celebrations will be in full swing as Celtic host St Mirren.
The Scottish Premiership title race has long been over, and Rangers fans, players and anyone associated with the club have simply had to accept that fact.
And not for the first time in recent weeks, Chris Sutton has taken aim at one particular former Rangers figure as he revels in Celtic’s success.

Sutton aims swipe at fellow Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd
Gers favourite Kris Boyd was not part of Sky Sports’ punditry line-up for the Celtic against St Mirren match, but that did not stop Sutton from making him the subject of his pre-match tweet.
“Looking forward to seeing Kris Boyd and the team at Celtic Park for Trophy Day,” Sutton posted via his personal X account (17 May).
“Join us all paying our respect to Celtic for yet another title party live on Sky Sports.”
Boyd has been regularly ribbed by his Sky colleague in recent weeks, and it is unfortunately something he has had to suck up in what has been a truly terrible domestic campaign at Ibrox.
Rangers can end season on relative high against Hibernian
A Rangers win against Hibernian, for which a key player will be absent at Easter Road, will make it three wins in a row to conclude the 2024-25 season.
Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses |
14 | 6 | 4 | 4 |
That will be a positive way to finish the season, of course, but it will only be papering over the cracks.
There remains uncertainty over the managerial situation at Ibrox, while the new owners are not officially yet in place.
All Rangers supporters can hope for is a much better 2025-26, and hopefully it will be roles reversed when it comes to these Sutton and Boyd digs.
