Ancelotti to Rangers timeline laid out as contract reveal made

Davide Ancelotti has emerged as a front-runner for the Rangers job, and it seems only a matter of time until he lands it.

A Scottish venture would be the Italian’s first dip in management, having been assistant to his father Carlo for almost a decade.

With Ancelotti primed for the Ibrox job, there has been an update on the contract front that will perk ears.

Ancelotti contract news emerges

Barry Ferguson has been in temporary charge in Glasgow since late February when Philippe Clement was sacked by the Gers.

Although the Scot is keen to land the job on a permanent basis, it appears Rangers have found their man.

Clearly, the Scottish outfit are not looking for managerial experience given Ancelotti’s profile. However, he has been in the game for a considerable time.

His work with his father, who is a legend of the game, is something that your average manager could only dream of.

Of course, the 35-year-old is yet to be confirmed as Rangers boss and the update on his contract will keep supporters waiting.

It has been reported that no contract has yet been tabled to Ancelotti by the Glasgow club, according to The Rangers Review (15 May).

Senior Rangers writer Chris Jack says talks between the two camps have taken place, though, and a decision is expected to be made by the end of the month.

Ancelotti worth the wait for Rangers

Given Ancelotti’s lack of managerial experience, it is impossible to judge whether he will be the right man at Ibrox.

However, this is a formula that has worked before.

When Rangers appointed Steven Gerrard, he had no experience in management, but guided the Scottish side to their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years.

The Italian has been alongside the great Don Carlo at some of the biggest clubs in the world and will have learnt a lot.

Ancelotti has had spells at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid on his CV, and adding Rangers would be another feather in his cap.

With his arrival at Ibrox seemingly imminent, the Italian can guide the Gers into a new dawn.
