Rangers takeover round-up: 49ers chief at Ibrox as end game looms
Rangers are edging ever closer to returning to their glory days with the 49ers Enterprises takeover at Ibrox.
Rangers have nothing left to play for this season, and that is entirely down to what has been a dismal domestic campaign for the Light Blues.
Added to that, despite an excellent run in the Europa League, Barry Ferguson’s side will also have nothing material to show for that minor success.
With that said, everyone at Ibrox will be hoping that the pending 49ers takeover will bring glory back to Glasgow, with Ibrox News rounding up the latest takeover talk ahead of the summer.

Davide Ancelotti rumours a sign that Rangers takeover is close
Once the 49ers take over at Rangers, their first task will be to appoint the next manager, with Ferguson looking all but set to leave at the end of the season.
Several managers have been linked with the job, but Davide Ancelotti’s name has been mentioned the most, and Ally McCoist thinks that the potential appointment is a good sign for the Light Blues.
Via talkSPORT, he said: “Now, the interesting thing about this potential appointment with Davide Ancelotti. What it would tell me, arguably more importantly, is that the takeover’s just about done.
“Because they’re not going to go and appoint somebody if the takeover’s not done, so I think we’re in agreement.”
Rangers to learn manager fate by 30 May after Cavanagh decision
Andrew Cavanagh has identified Ancelotti as his main target for the Rangers job, and it is said that the Italian will make his decision by the end of the month.
Years | Club |
2016-17 | Bayern Munich |
2018-19 | Napoli |
2019-21 | Everton |
2021-25 | Real Madrid |
The 35-year-old is believed to have various offers in management, but if the Light Blues can offer him a solid project and foundation to build from, he won’t turn it down.
Quite frankly, if the 49ers are intent on making this club great again, they will do whatever it takes to bring their ideal candidate to Ibrox.
49ers director spotted at Ibrox
Rangers secured a 3-1 victory against Dundee United in their final game of the season at Ibrox, and the figures spotted at the game have sparked even more optimism that the takeover is ending closer.

Dhadwal is believed to be heavily involved in financing Leeds United, who are now back in the Premier League, with his sighting said to be a sign that the “end game is looming.”
