Rangers ace ‘unlikely to be at Ibrox next season’ after what he did v Dundee United
Rangers know that a massive summer transfer window is required if they are to truly close the gap on Celtic next season.
A 3-1 win over Dundee United on Wednesday (14 May) made it back-to-back victories at Ibrox, but this upturn in form has come far too late.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title at a canter, sitting 17 points clear with one round of fixtures left to play.
The victory against Dundee United may well prove to be the final Ibrox outing for a number of players, with the final game taking place away at Hibernian on Saturday (17 May).

Vaclav Cerny appears to say farewell to Rangers fans
The future of Vaclav Cerny is one of the hottest topics of debate heading into the summer transfer window.
Cerny is on loan from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and admitted last weekend he has no idea where he will be playing his football next season.
Rangers have not been ruled out of the race to sign Cerny permanently, but the attacker appeared to be saying farewell when substituted off in the second half against Dundee United.
Cerny looked emotional as he clapped all four sides of Ibrox, with supporters eager to show their love to the on-loan ace.
According to the Daily Mail (14 May), “it was a clear indication that Cerny probably won’t return from Wolfsburg next season.”

Rangers must go all out to keep hold of Cerny
For what it is worth, interim boss Barry Ferguson said after the game that Cerny’s early substitution was not a chance for the player to say farewell to fans, but rather because he was simply tired.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goal(s) | Assist(s) |
Scottish Premiership | 28 | 11 | 2 |
Top Six Split | 4 | 1 | 2 |
Europa League | 12 | 6 | 2 |
Scottish Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Premier Sports Cup | 4 | 0 | 2 |
Champions League Qualifying | 2 | 0 | 1 |
It remains to be seen whether Rangers will be able to both persuade Cerny to stay at Ibrox, while also agreeing a fee with his parent club.
Andrew Cavenagh was once again in attendance at Ibrox for the clash with Dundee United. The sooner the takeover goes through, the more likely Rangers are to get a deal for Cerny done.
In what has been a pretty disastrous season, there are at least a few positive signs. If the Gers can retain their better performers and add a handful of new faces, the 2025-26 season could prove a lot different.
