Hibernian vs Rangers preview: Team news, lineups, prediction

Rangers are preparing for their final game of the Scottish Premiership season as they travel to Easter Road to take on Hibernian.

Saturday’s match looks likely to be Barry Ferguson’s last as Rangers manager as the 49ers look to complete their takeover.

However, he will no doubt want to end things on a high as they prepare for their match on 17 May.

Preview

Neither side has anything to play for but pride going into the match.

The Gers are on a two-match winning streak after Rangers beat Dundee United 3-1 in the week.

With second place and a space in the Champions League secured, Hibernian sit just below them in third.

The hosts fumbled a 2-0 lead over St. Mirren in the week as the match ended 2-2, but have now mathematically secured third and a spot in the Europa League

Team News

Liam Kelly should be back for Rangers after he picked up a knock before the Dundee United match.

Ridvan Yilmaz could also make his return after picking up an injury at the end of April, but this is doubtful.

Ferguson will definitely be without Rafael Fernandes, Dujon Sterling and Ianis Hagi for the clash.

In comparison, Hibernian could bring back Elie Youan, who is edging closer to full fitness since his last appearance on Boxing Day.

Joe Newell and Hyeok-kyu Kwon remain on the sidelines for the hosts.

Predicted line-ups

Hibernian: Smith, Miller, Bushiri, Iredale, Cadden, Triantis, Levitt, Obita, Boyle, Kukharevych, Gayle

Rangers: Butland, Tavernier, Souttar, Balogun, Jefte, Rice, Raskin, Cerny, Diomande, Cortes, Dessers

Prediction: Hibernian 0-1 Rangers

While neither team is playing for anything, it is hard not to go for Rangers given their recent form.

The players will also likely want to give Ferguson a good send-off if he is to leave the club after this match.

It will no doubt still be a tricky match, but a single goal should be enough to give the visitors a victory, provided they make no sloppy mistakes at the back.
