Como ready huge investment for Davide Ancelotti hire in Rangers twist

Davide Ancelotti is the name on everyone’s lips at Rangers, as they hunt for their next permanent manager at Ibrox.

Ancelotti will leave his assistant job at Real Madrid alongside his father Carlo Ancelotti, but he looks likely to embark on his coaching path and is in high demand.

Rangers are interested in the Italian as they aim to embark on a new era under American ownership, and may be targeting long-term options they can build a project behind.

However, Serie A side Como have now thrown their hat into the ring, and they could pip Rangers to the 35-year-old, given fresh developments in Italy.

Como could appoint Ancelotti to replace Cesc Fabregas

Ancelotti’s possible move to Rangers is in danger of falling through, as Como could move to appoint him to possibly replace Cesc Fabregas.

This comes as a result of Bayer Leverkusen’s interest in Fabregas to replace Xabi Alonso, who is set to join Real Madrid.

It has been reported by Spanish outlet Todofichajes (14 May) that Como have identified Ancelotti as a priority target should Fabregas leave, and they are prepared to heavily back him.

Como are ready to invest over £100million per year into their team, having already spent relatively heavily following their promotion to Serie A last season, recruiting big names such as Raphael Varane.

They are already making moves in the transfer market, too, and are closing in on the permanent signing of Maximo Perrone from Manchester City for a fee which could reach over £25 million.

49ers need to heavily back new Rangers manager

Those who want Ancelotti to join Rangers will hope that Fabregas rejects Leverkusen in favour of staying at Como, but with the Italian in high demand, it is clear that the Glasgow side will need to make him a good offer.

Whoever comes in, be it Ancelotti or a different target, the 49ers Enterprises will need to back them with funding and resources to build their squad, which clubs such as Como would offer elsewhere.

Rangers require a huge rebuild, but it is hoped that the new ownership can take them in a different direction after a disappointing season.
