Rangers to make new manager announcement in days after Ibrox offer made
Rangers’ search for a new manager looks set to come to an end shortly.
Barry Ferguson has been in interim charge since Philippe Clement was sacked in February but he has struggled to turn around the Gers’ form, despite an impressive showing in the Europa League.
The Light Blues legend looks like a longshot to earn the Ibrox role on a permanent basis and the latest developments do not strengthen his chances.

Rangers set for new manager announcement
The wait for a new permanent Rangers manager has dragged on and hampered Ferguson’s time in the dugout as speculation on his future was constant.
Speaking in his pre-conference (13 May), ahead of the clash with Dundee United, the current incumbent gave an update on the managerial situation.
He said: “I’m sure you will see over the course of the next few days, hopefully there is going to be a bit of movement.”

Ancelotti appointment expected at Rangers
Davide Ancelotti, the son of legendary Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, is reported to be the frontrunner to take over the vacancy in Govan.
A report from Corriere dello Sport (11 May) claims that the 35-year-old has been offered the role by the Auchenhowie outfit.

It remains to be seen what he would bring to the Bears, as he is an unknown quantity at the managerial level, having worked as assistant manager under his father for the majority of his career.
There is a huge risk associated with bringing an untested manager, particularly with the gap to Celtic being as wide as it is right now, with a margin of 17 points between the sides.
However, the chance to hire somebody with connections to one of the greatest managers of all time should negate some of that threat because it should give the Gers a new opportunity in the transfer window.
The club, fresh off the 49ers takeover, should be able to attract higher-profile signings and help push themselves closer to their Glasgow rivals, after years of misery and lagging behind Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Also, Steven Gerrard‘s first managerial role was with the Light Blues, and he secured their last Scottish Premiership title in the 2020-21 season, so the risk may be worth taking if it helps them to bridge the gap.
