Rangers sources share brand new Ancelotti hire news straight from Ibrox

Rangers are looking for some clarity over what the future holds at Ibrox.

The 49ers are looking to complete a takeover at Ibrox, which could be completed by mid-June.

However, the managerial situation is still unclear, with Barry Ferguson still in place as interim boss until the end of the campaign.

With contracts of players expiring and the end of the campaign creeping upon us, a decision needs to be made soon, allowing summer transfer work to get underway.

Ancelotti under consideration at Rangers

The 49ers have a big decision to make, dictating the immediate direction they want to take Rangers in.

Ferguson has done a decent job since he was appointed interim boss, guiding the Light Blues to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

While a permanent appointment for the Bears legend has been mooted, his previous lack of experience may not lend itself to such a big job with his former side.

Conversations have taken place between Kevin Thelwell and the 47-year-old, but according to Chris Jack, the possibilities are still wide open.

Jack reported via the Rangers Review (12 May) that the Bears have a long list of candidates, from varying backgrounds, which includes coaches from the Red Bull franchise that already have strong links with the new owners.

One man who is on the list for consideration, though, is Ancelotti, who is set to leave Real Madrid alongside his father at the end of the season.

Despite suggestions of an offer being made to the Italian, that may have jumped the gun.

Sources close to Ibrox have suggested that a number of candidates are in talks with the Gers, with a decision expected to be nailed down within the next month.

Ancelotti would be strong for Rangers

You can understand why the 49ers are taking some time over the decision of their first appointment at Ibrox, as it will be a crucial one to set the tone of their tenure.

However, there will be players with situations at Ibrox that require attention, which should be urging the 49ers to speed up the process somewhat.

With Ancelotti set to leave Madrid, why wouldn’t his name be on the list?

Ancelotti’s career path

The Italian is experienced working at the very top end of football, where big budgets and high ambitions are the norm.

However, at 35-years-old, Ancelotti also brings a freshness to the role and is a younger option, an attribute which the 49ers seem fairly keen on.

This could well be the time for Acelotti to spread his wings and make his own move.
