Rangers news: Guillem Balague drops huge Davide Ancelotti update

Guillem Balague is in the know about Davide Ancelotti and his proposed move to Rangers.

While Rangers are still in the middle of a takeover led by Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, they might not wait until the deal is finalised to make a decision regarding their next manager.

With the season drawing to a close, the Ibrox outfit are prepared to ramp up their efforts to hire the replacement for Barry Ferguson and could make the appointment within weeks.

Ancelotti has quickly emerged as a strong candidate to take the reins at the Glasgow-based club, with reports claiming that the 49ers Enterprises have already zeroed in on him.

Balague added that Ancelotti will be joining Brazil when his father, Carlo, takes charge as the national team head coach later this month.

The young tactician is poised to remain with Brazil at least until mid-June, as things stand.

“Davide will be with his father for the first two weeks of June, and then, if something comes up, he’ll start on his own”, Balague told BBC Sport (13 May). “If not, he’ll stay in Brazil.”

BBC share Ibrox update

Meanwhile, BBC have confirmed that Rangers are still in discussions with potential candidates, as they speed up their efforts to appoint a new manager.

Sources have told the broadcasters that the Gers are still in the early stages of hiring a new boss, with suggestions that Ancelotti has emerged as a favourite being rubbished already.

With two games still left to play, the Premiership heavyweights have no need to rush the process.

Nevertheless, fans can expect major developments regarding the same in the upcoming days.
