Rangers most active in new manager bidding as Davide Ancelotti latest drops from Spain

Rangers are working towards a deal to bring in Davide Ancelotti as head coach.

The Gers have been on the lookout for a new boss for many months after the sacking of Philippe Clement back in February.

Any decision-making was postponed with Barry Ferguson taking interim charge, but now, the Italian has emerged as one of the front-runners in the race.

The Real Madrid assistant has been linked with a switch to Ibrox, and now a fresh development has emerged from Spain ahead of the summer.

Ancelotti news emerges out of Spain

Links to the 35-year-old have been about as strong as any other potential managerial target moving into the summer in Govan.

This comes after the departure of his father Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid, as the five-time Champions League winner prepares to become Brazil boss ahead of the World Cup.

As a result, Davide could be on the lookout for a new club to kick-start his career as a head coach in his own right.

This may not be the case, however, as Matteo Moretto reported on 12 May that the Italian is waiting for the green light to link up with his dad with the Selecao.

This could see him take a place in the dugout for upcoming matches against Ecuador and Paraguay before a solo career is decided on.

Now the Gers are awaiting clarification on the situation as they continue to be the “most actively bidding” side in the race for Ancelotti ahead of the summer.

Rangers await Ancelotti decision

There has been no lack of options considered by the Light Blues hierarchy as they look for the perfect fit for the Ibrox dugout.

This has most recently seen Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl come into discussion in Govan as a Hillsborough exit looks likely this summer.

Like the German, Steven Gerrard has emerged as another potential target, but it appears that a more inexperienced coach could be brought in.

This comes as links to Ancelotti continue to grow stronger as his departure from Real Madrid comes closer to the rear view mirror.
