Rangers make approach to sign £10m-rated Blackburn star in bargain deal

Rangers are ramping up their efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, despite their proposed takeover yet to be finalised.

The Light Blues are in the middle of a takeover led by Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe, who are putting the finishing touches to their proposed deal.

However, the handover of power at Ibrox may not be finalised until mid-June, meaning Rangers have to make decisions regarding their other priorities before the takeover.

The Glasgow giants are in the process of naming a permanent replacement for Philippe Clement, with Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti emerging as the new favourite for the job.

Meanwhile, the Gers are also working on new signings, with the summer transfer window just around the corner.

Rangers want Tyrhys Dolan

Rangers are interested in signing Tyrhys Dolan from Blackburn, according to The Herald.

The newspaper reported via their website on Tuesday (13 May) that the Gers and Celtic are monitoring the winger’s situation ahead of the summer.

Dolan is due to leave Blackburn at the end of the season, as things stand, as his contract runs out in June.

Celtic considered signing the 23-year-old before bringing back Jota in the winter transfer window, and remain interested in acquiring his services.

Meanwhile, Rangers have also ‘asked questions’ about Dolan’s situation, as they plot a move to sign him on a free transfer.

The right-footer is rated at around £5-10million, but the Premiership heavyweights could snap him up for a minimal fee under FIFA’s training compensation scheme.

Dolan could replace Vaclav Cerny at Ibrox

Dolan’s age and contract situation make him a no-nonsense option for Rangers, who need major additions in different positions.

The Englishman’s signing could be particularly valuable for the Ibrox outfit if Vaclav Cerny departs.

Cerny is due to leave the Gers when his loan deal from Wolfsburg expires at the end of the season.

Rangers have the option to sign Cerny permanently for £5.5m, but would have to do so before the end of May.

The price is expected to go up by 100 per cent after the deadline, with the likes of Besiktas already making moves to snap him up.

Therefore, a move to sign Dolan makes sense for Rangers.
