Exclusive: Ancelotti to sign Real Madrid sensations for Rangers once deal done
Rangers are reportedly closing in on the appointment of Davide Ancelotti as their next permanent manager.
49ers Enterprises are set to complete a takeover of the club, and this will see them hire a new manager to replace interim boss Barry Ferguson.
Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid alongside his father Carlo Ancelotti, but while the legendary veteran will take charge of the Brazil National Team, his son will now forge a career away from him.
The Italian’s son has been assistant manager at his last four clubs, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and the 35-year-old may now bring some of his expertise to Rangers in a surprise move.

Ancelotti can give Rangers advantage over Real Madrid talents
Although the job at Ibrox will be Ancelotti’s first as a head coach, his previous coaching experience saw him take a hands-on approach at his last four clubs alongside some of the best players in the world.
Ancelotti’s recent work at Real Madrid saw him keep a close eye on the first-team squad and academy, and this could come of huge benefit to Rangers.
Football Espana editor Ruairidh Barlow has now exclusively told Ibrox News that Ancelotti could bring a huge advantage to Rangers in recruiting from Real Madrid’s academy.
Years | Club |
2016-17 | Bayern Munich |
2018-19 | Napoli |
2019-21 | Everton |
2021-25 | Real Madrid |
“It’s certainly proven a happy hunting ground,” Barlow stated of Real Madrid’s academy.
“Nico Paz, Rafa Marín, Mario Gila – there are good players there available for a few million every summer.
“Real Madrid don’t hand many young players first-team chances, so a loan or deals from Castilla could be a smart option.”

Rangers could sign Real Madrid academy starlets
A number of top talents have left Real Madrid Castilla in recent years to pursue first-team opportunities elsewhere, and have found success.
The three players named here, Paz, Marin and Gila, ended up at Como, Napoli and Lazio respectively in Serie A, and proved to be shrewd additions who made an immediate impact.
Ancelotti would have first-hand knowledge of who the best talents coming through at Real Madrid are now, and which could be available for Rangers to sign on loan or bargain permanent deals this summer.
He would have more insight into this than any manager at any other club, and this could give Rangers a huge helping hand in the transfer market as they aim to add quality to their squad.
This would almost be a repeat of what Steven Gerrard brought to Rangers, as he signed Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria from the Liverpool academy, given his connections to his former club, and Kent proved particularly successful at Ibrox.
