Barry Ferguson ‘faces media for last time’ ahead of new Rangers manager announcement
Barry Ferguson is set to leave Rangers in the coming days after taking charge on an interim basis this season.
The Scottish head coach returned to Ibrox in February as a replacement for Philippe Clement after the Belgian was unsurprisingly sacked.
In the months that have followed, the 47-year-old boss has overseen many ups and downs, now counting down the final two games before departing at the end of the season.
Now it appears that Ferguson has sat down for his final press conference as supporters await the appointment of a new manager in Govan.

Ferguson faces media for final time at Rangers
It is fair to say that the former midfielder brought some joy back to supporters in G51 after months of frustration under the previous regime.
The penalty shootout win against Fenerbahce was arguably the high point under the Scot’s stewardship, with league form continuing to struggle.
Position | Club | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1. | Celtic | 36 | +82 | 88 |
2. | Rangers | 36 | +37 | 71 |
As a result, it is highly likely that the Light Blues hierarchy will continue their search for a new head coach ready for the new season.
This has seen Chris Jack report that Feruson has taken part in “what is likely to be his final pre-match press conference” on Tuesday (13 May).
While facing the media, the interim boss suggested that there will be clarity over the new manager at Ibrox “over the next few days” in Govan.
This will likely be music to the ears of supporters who will be keen to learn who will takeover ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season.
Rangers seemingly close to manager appointment
There have been many weeks of speculation in G51 which have seen many names linked with the soon to be vacant role in the Ibrox dugout.
Most recently, Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti with an offer reportedly on the table ahead of his planned exit from the Bernabeu.
This has also seen Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl linked with a move to Glasgow with no deal going through as of yet.
It does now seem based on Ferguson’s comments that there will be an update on the new head coach will be come in a matter of days.
