Rangers want appointment ASAP as shock Rob Edwards twist emerges
Rangers are yet to appoint a permanent manager after sacking former boss Philippe Clement back in February.
Barry Ferguson has overseen a mixed spell as interim, yielding five wins, four draws and four losses in his time in the Ibrox dugout.
Ferguson steered the Bears to a home win for the first time via a 4-0 triumph over Aberdeen on Sunday, thanks to a clinical second-half performance.
The 47-year-old will hope to guide Rangers to another victory in their final home fixture of the season against Dundee United on Wednesday (14 May).

Edwards in the frame as Rangers strive for imminent appointment
Former Luton Town boss Rob Edwards guided the Hatters to the Premier League in 2023, but left the Bedfordshire side via mutual consent last January amid their Championship relegation battle.
Scottish Premership table (Top two) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1 Celtic | 36 | 82 | 88 |
2 Rangers | 36 | 37 | 71 |
According to Sky Sports [12 May], the 42-year-old is being considered for the Ibrox vacancy alongside the likes of ex-Southampton manager Russell Martin and Danny Rohl, whose future with Sheffield Wednesday remains uncertain.
The report adds that Davide Ancelotti, Steven Gerrard and Gary O’Neil are also in the running to replace Clement as Rangers’ next permanent boss.
As per Sky Sports, the Light Blues are eager to make an appointment as soon as possible, and will not need to wait until 49ers Enterprises complete their takeover.

Edwards appointment could go either way for Rangers
The fact that Edwards has emerged as a managerial candidate at Ibrox comes as a shock after the Englishman struggled in the Championship this term.
Luton suffered relegation from the second tier to League One just one year after dropping out of the Premier League, largely thanks to the 42-year-old’s poor stewardship.
However, Edwards showed how good he can be when he guided the Hatters to the top flight of English football in unlikely circumstances.
If the ex-Watford boss can perform at his best for Rangers, then there is no reason why the Ibrox club cannot lift silverware soon after the 49ers’ takeover is complete.
But if Edwards performs similarly to that of his latter Luton days, then his potential appointment could prove to be an erroneous decision.
With plenty of names still in the frame, the Rangers faithful will be desperate to see the Glaswegian outfit make the correct managerial call.
