Rangers chiefs pull plug on mega money-spinning jet away
Rangers have cancelled a trip abroad at the end of the season despite the financial benefits.
The Gers have little to play for across the rest of the campaign in the Scottish Premiership after a largely frustrating few months.
There has been very little positivity on the domestic front for the Govan club after losing out on the league title and both cup competitions.
As a result, an end-of-season clash away from the UK could have done good for everyone, but that has now been cancelled by the hierarchy in G51.

Rangers cancel end of season Australia trip
There is plenty of negativity surrounding the Light Blues as Celtic continue to prove how much better they are than their Old Firm rivals.
Position | Club | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1. | Celtic | 36 | +82 | 88 |
2. | Rangers | 36 | +37 | 71 |
Moving into a new season, hopes of changes are high, and that could have kicked off perfectly with a trip down under to end the campaign.
Unfortunately, that is no longer going to happen as the Daily Record have reported (12 May) that plans to fly to Australia have now been cancelled.
Initially, plans emerged that suggested preparations were underway to travel over 10,000 miles to play a post-season friendly against Olympiacos in Oz
This idea was been shelved by the Ibrox hierarchy to avoid any risk of an overlap with the Europa League final.
As a result, the decision to cancel plans to travel to Australia has been cancelled once again after fan backlash saw a trip to face Celtic, worth a £3million payday, was called off to appease supporters in 2021.
Rangers miss out on £3m boost
It has to be said that the prospect of a post-season friendly is bizarre as complaints over fixture congestion continue to grow among players.
As a result, it did come as a surprise to some that the Light Blues had plans to travel to the other side of the world to play a needless game.
This has now been stopped which will be music to the ears of the players, especially after losing to Athletic Bilbao anyway.
There is every chance that this could have been put on again after the defeat against the Spaniard’s but it hasn’t.
With Paraag Marathe and the 49ers looking to complete a takeover, they may have preferred to start their reign with a £3m boost.
