Rangers certain to hire Davide Ancelotti in blockbuster manager update
Rangers have reportedly decided on bringing in Davide Ancelotti to become their next permanent manager for the 2025/26 season.
The Ibrox outfit are in the hunt for a new manager and a number of names have been linked.
Barry Ferguson is expected to leave once his remit as interim manager ends as Gers do not see him as the full-time boss.

Ancelotti almost certain to begin his managerial career at Rangers
Davide, 35, has been the assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at his last few clubs, but now wants to begin a career in management.
With stints at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid, Davide is not expected to follow in his father’s footsteps as he becomes the new Brazil head coach.
Years | Club |
2016-17 | Bayern Munich |
2018-19 | Napoli |
2019-21 | Everton |
2021-25 | Real Madrid |
According to AS on 12 May, the Italian will “almost certainly” begin his managerial career at Rangers.
While he will accompany his father in the first few days of his job in Brazil, he’s not expected to be there for too long.

Ancelotti would be a solid hire for Gers
Gers need a young manager waiting to make a name for himself, so Ancelotti would be the perfect hire for them.
He’s got the charisma and the knowledge of the game, as he’s been part of the coaching setups of two legendary clubs.
Napoli, too, are historic giants and his experience in the Premier League with Everton also cannot be discounted.
He can take over a historic European giant in Rangers and help get them back on track.
As he’s been at some of Europe’s biggest clubs, he will know what it takes to be in charge of a side that’s expected to win every game they play.
While it’s a gamble for Gers, they know that he’s got the reputation and contacts in the game to be a valuable addition.
The Ibrox faithful will be hoping that the appointment goes ahead without any further hurdles, as there still seem to be a few more steps along the way.
