Union Bears hit out at Rangers chiefs with new Ibrox banners v Aberdeen

Rangers supporters are not happy with the way their club has been run of late.

Those in the stands at Ibrox are crying out for the completion of the 49ers Enterprises takeover in the hope that the they can have a new lease of life.

The Gers’ latest fallout with their supporters came in the 1-1 draw against Celtic on Sunday (4 May) after supporters displayed a controversial tifo with Graeme Souness on.

The tifo sparked debate throughout Scotland after police removed the banner to launch an investigation into the situation.

Rangers have since responded with measures to approve future tifos to stop a similar situation from happening once more.

Union Bears show Rangers what they think

There have been a number of disagreements between supporters group, Union Bears and those higher up at Ibrox this term, with this incident being the latest in a long line.

As Rangers welcomed Aberdeen to Ibrox on Sunday (11 May) for Scottish Premiership action, the Union Bears had something up their sleeve to show their club what they thought of the response to their tifo.

As shared by Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack on X (11 May), supporters were seen with a banner that read “Free Souness” as they chanted “there’s only one Graeme Souness.”

Souness is well liked at Rangers.

Union Bears were not finished in their messages, though, and went on to reveal a follow-up message that showed Rangers clearly what their supporters feel.

The banners read: “Jumped the gun and lost the fans. No apology – no surrender.”

Union Bears have made their feelings well known, and it will be interesting to see how those at Ibrox respond to this message.

Rangers ready for takeover

This latest falling out between the supporters and those upstairs at Ibrox is representative of how things are in Glasgow at the minute; there is a lot of apathy on both sides.

With that in mind, the takeover from the 49ers could not come soon enough for the club, creating a new era to progress forward.

While the Americans will increase investment on the pitch at Ibrox, which should in turn improve results and where the Light Blues are pushing, it will surely improve relations with those in the stands too.

Supporters are fed up with the mismanagement of their side and understandably, feel they should be pushing much higher than they are.

If the 49ers can come into Ibrox and show a clear commitment to pushing the Gers right back towards the top, calmer times are surely ahead.
