Rangers takeover collapse prediction emerges after upsetting Ibrox development
Rangers have learnt what could happen to the 49ers’ takeover after recent actions at Ibrox.
The NFL giants have been in the midst of an ownership bid for many weeks now, with the US group seemingly edging closer to a deal in Govan.
Paraag Marathe and Co. could be set for a huge task in G51 after what has been a largely negative season in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers.
With that being said, the US consortium may not look on recent behaviour at Ibrox well as a fresh prediction emerged ahead of a potential takeover.

Gary Keown rages at Rangers behaviour in takeover prediction
There is no doubt that the Light Blues need a sizable reshuffle in the summer after what has been a frustrating campaign for the most part.
Despite some positivity under Barry Ferguson, the frustrations have boiled over at times in the stands at Ibrox, and it was no different in the Old Firm.
Stat | Rangers | Celtic |
Possession | 40 | 60 |
Expected Goals | 1.46 | 1.10 |
Shots | 13 | 8 |
Big chances | 3 | 1 |
As the points were shared against Celtic on 4 May, supporters were picked out for their poor behaviour after throwing projectiles at Hoops keeper Viljami Sinisalo.
Given that away supporters have only just been allowed to return to the derby clash, these sorts of antics do feel ill-advised, especially with a takeover on the cards.
This has been echoed by Gary Keown in the Scottish Mail on Sunday (11 May, page 91), who has predicted what the behaviour at Ibrox could mean for the 49ers.
He said: “Rangers, their CCTV team, the police and the authorities should be going after the lot.
“Just as with Cerny’s water-squirting at Parkhead, the missle-throwing at Ibrox almost got last weekend amid all manner of handwringing over a tifo display of Graeme Souness brandishing a shotgun beside a message about ‘taking aim against rebel scum’.
“It was pushing the envelope. It upset people. But it was never a police matter. And it’s never going to put the US consortium close to buying Rangers off completing a deal despite the hyperbole. They understand UK fan culture.”

Rangers lucky to escape without punishment v Celtic
It does frustrate a portion of fans that their fellow supporters can’t control themselves and behave in a fashion which could ruin it for all.
This looks likely to end in a fine or ban for those involved in the stands, and hopefully have no impact on any deal from the US group.
Marathe already has plenty of experience with fans from his time with Leeds United and could be set to continue that with the Govan club.
It will certainly be interesting to see what the 49ers make of what they saw against Celtic, as Sinisalo was pelted with objects throughout.
