SFA panel rules in favour of Celtic three times v Rangers

Rangers may have had a poor season, but Barry Ferguson led his side to pick up another point from Celtic last Sunday.

The Gers took the lead just before half-time through Cyriel Dessers, but his goal was ruled out by Adam Idah, soon after the second half way underway.

As is typical of an Old Firm derby, there were plenty of controversial moments throughout the 90 minutes, which the key match incident review panel have now had their say on.

SFA panel rules Rangers v Celtic as fair outcome

Celtic may have got their hands on the Scottish Premiership trophy with little competition from their rivals, but the Gers will have been glad to take a point.

However, some supporters at Ibrox will certainly feel as though they were deserving of more, with some key moments stopping the Light Blues from getting a real hold on the game.

Although it was Dessers who gave Rangers the lead, Nico Raskin was the first man to put the ball in the back of the net early in the first half.

However, VAR ruled off Raskin’s header for being offside. It was a close call, but the panel of five agreed with the call that was given on the day [Rangers Review, 10 May].

Idah’s equaliser in the 52nd minute of the game also caused some protest amongst the home contingent, when Daizen Maeda’s position was questionable.

Although the linesman judged Maeda to have moved too soon, the goal stood after VAR checked it. Another decision which was supported by the panel.

Finally, the Gers felt as though they were deserving of a penalty when Ianis Hagi was fouled in the box, resulting in an injury that has ruled him out for the campaign.

Nothing was given at the time by the on-field officials or VAR and that decision has been supported once more.

Rangers ready to compete with Celtic once more

Rangers are patiently waiting for the 49ers Enterprises to complete their takeover at Ibrox.

It has been reported that supporters may have to wait until June to see the takeover completed, but those in Glasgow will surely feel it’s worth the wait.

It will be a long-term project for Rangers as they look to upgrade their squad going forward and therefore, supporters will have to have some patience.

However, the sights are set on returning to the top of the Scottish Premiership, battling it out with Celtic once more to win silverware.
