Rangers get huge boost as Lennon Miller transfer talks confirmed

Motherwell manager Michael Wimmer has issued an update on Lennon Miller amid reported interest from Rangers and Celtic.

Miller, who won PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year award, is also being eyed by clubs in Germany for a potential summer transfer.

The 18-year-old is now entering the final year of his deal at Fir Park.

Wimmer believes Miller is ready for the step up

Wimmer has admitted that there have been clubs from the Bundesliga contacting him about Miller’s availability in the coming months.

He has tipped him to play in the German top flight, admitting that an exit may be on the cards sometime in the near future.

Lennon Miller has been a first-team regular this season.

He told the Sun: “I know the Bundesliga, I know many clubs and sporting directors there.

“And, of course, some teams in Germany ask me about him.

“I am coach, I am manager, I’m not an agent for Lennon — but if the German club is asking me about him then I give an honest answer.

“I say he is a guy which, if he fits to the right club, then he can play in the Bundesliga.

“Lennon has so many skills. He has unbelievable composure on the ball.

“And with 70 games in the Scottish Premiership at 18, he is physically prepared for the next step.”

Rangers need to move on from the Miller pursuit

Rangers face significant challenges in signing Miller, making it prudent to pursue alternative targets.

The 18-year-old midfielder has attracted widespread interest from Bundesliga clubs, Strasbourg, Udinese, Celtic and Premier League teams, intensifying competition.

Motherwell’s valuation, potentially exceeding £4million, poses a financial hurdle for the Ibrox outfit, who are grappling with a £17.2million operating loss, limiting their transfer budget unless significant player sales occur.

Celtic’s stronger financial position and interest in Miller further diminish Rangers’ chances, as does the allure of top European leagues for a player with 70 Scottish Premiership appearances and proven composure.

With Miller’s contract nearing its final year, Motherwell are poised to maximise his transfer fee, likely pricing Rangers out.

Gers should target more affordable, high-potential Scottish talents or young midfielders within their financial reach.

This approach aligns with technical director Nils Koppen’s focus on local recruitment and ensures squad investment without overextending resources, maintaining competitiveness in the Scottish Premiership.
