Nico Raskin approaches ‘end of the road’ at Rangers amid latest transfer news

Rangers have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window as they look to bridge the gap between them and Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The likely takeover at Ibrox by the 49ers Enterprises could well give the Gers a big boost when it comes to their summer business, although developments will have to be sustainable too.

Thanks to mismanagement off the pitch, Rangers are now in a position where they need to make some big changes in order to find themselves in a sustainable future when it comes to long-term progression.

Rangers linked with Nectar Triantis transfer

There is plenty to be wondered about Rangers ahead of the end of the season, with supporters unsure over who will be their manager next term.

Barry Ferguson could be in the frame, although there are suggestions that a completely new appointment will be the way forward for the new owners at Rangers.

While that is still uncertain, the addition of Kevin Thelwell does show that the Light Blues have already got their sights set on the summer window, ready to hit the ground running.

With that in mind, one man who has been linked with a move to Ibrox is Nectar Triantis, currently of Sunderland.

It has been suggested that after spending the campaign on loan with Hibernian, the Black Cats may be keen to repeat that next season, but push him up a level.

Nico Raskin could exit Ibrox

With Rangers needing to sort out their finances and put themselves in a better position going forward, this could lead to selling some players that supporters don’t want to see the back of, including Nico Raskin.

The midfielder has been a rare highlight for supporters in Glasgow this term, having stepped up his levels significantly as the season has continued.

As a result of his form, Raskin has already been linked with a move away from the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season and a loan deal to bring Triantis in could seal that.

Sunderland would not be willing to strike a deal for their player to go out for another loan if he wasn’t guaranteed to get game time and bringing in someone who has done fairly well would surely allow the Gers to offload too.

Raskin wouldn’t be the first choice when it comes to players who should be leaving Glasgow but to balance the books, it could be necessary.
