Rangers takeover proof of funds update from Keith Jackson – ‘Lottery numbers’
Rangers’ takeover by the 49ers is a step closer to being completed as the Glaswegians aim to become the richest club in Scotland.
With the current Scottish Premiership campaign now meaning nothing to the Ibrox faithful, all eyes are on the ongoing takeover at Rangers.
The Gers have been in talks with the 49ers for the last few months, but the deal could be completed in the coming weeks.
Now, an update has been provided on how the 49ers’ proof of funds went, with it being described as a ‘straightforward process’.

Proof of funds ‘very straightforward’ for Rangers takeover
After the 49ers were spotted at the Old Firm derby on the weekend, fans are now just waiting for the takeover to be confirmed.
A busy summer is expected, with the future of Barry Ferguson as Rangers manager still uncertain.
There is a hope among the Ibrox faithful that a big budget will be offered to whoever is in charge to revamp the squad for next season.
Now, Keith Jackson has likened the 49ers’ wealth to that of “lottery numbers” when he described how the proof of funds for the takeover likely went.
From the Daily Record’s broadcast on X (7 May), Jackson said: “Another key strand of what Dave King was saying, there was never any doubt that these guys had serious financial muscle. These have got deep pockets, and he did say that you have to look for proof of funding.
“I think proof of funding would have been very straightforward, we are talking big numbers, lottery numbers and beyond.
“It would have been very easy for that to be proved, and I don’t think Andrew Cavanagh would have necessarily needed the wealth of the 49ers to give that proof of funding.
“He is a considerably wealthy guy on his own, but he is being backed by the 49ers and that whole family.”

49ers will need to spend big in the summer transfer window
The longer this takeover has gone on, the more expectations have heightened among the Rangers fanbase.
In many ways, this is good for the incoming owners as they prepare to make their arrival at Ibrox.
However, much of their early success will be based on what they do in the summer and how much they spend, given their vast wealth.
There have already been fears that Rangers could become a feeder club for Leeds United, a fellow 49ers asset.
By spending big in January, it would extinguish this rumour and help get fans fully behind their new owners.
For too long, Rangers have been in the shadow of Celtic, and a good summer could see them finally reclaim the Scottish Premiership and knock their Old Firm rivals off their perch.
