Jim White shares new 49ers and Rangers talks he had just outside of Ibrox
Rangers are getting closer to a deal with the 49ers Enterprises over a takeover of the Ibrox club, and they are set for huge changes.
Barry Ferguson is likely to be replaced as manager, while there could be plenty of movement in the playing squad during the transfer window.
Rangers fans will want to see major changes after a woeful campaign, and there will be a full set of fresh faces in the boardroom once the takeover is completed.
TalkSPORT host and Rangers fan Jim White was at Ibrox as the Gers drew with Celtic in the last Old Firm clash of the season on Sunday, and he engaged with supporters at the match.

White speaks to Rangers fans about takeover
Rangers drew 1-1 with Celtic in an Old Firm clash that may be quickly forgotten, and everyone’s main focus is now on what will happen in the summer.
With uncertainty over Ferguson’s future, fans are keen on seeing the takeover completed quickly, and White spoke to some at Ibrox on Sunday.
Speaking on talkSPORT, White explained what he talked to Rangers fans about on the day.
Rangers – 2024-25 | Progress |
Scottish Premiership | 2nd |
Scottish Cup | Fifth round |
League Cup | Runners-up |
Europa League | Quarter-finals |
“I’ve been to the Ibrox Stadium on the south side of Glasgow on Sunday, I wandered into the stadium, I was chatting to some Rangers fans outside,” White stated.
“Of course, the topic of conversation was the 49ers, whether they would be taking over the football club, and how Barry Ferguson has done in his time as interim manager.”
Rangers fans are eager for clarity
The takeover appears to be close to completion, but until it is fully resolved and announced, there will still be little clarity over what the structure of the club will look like.
Kevin Thelwell has joined as a director, while key figures from the 49ers who could be heavily involved include Paraag Marathe and Gretar Steinsson.
The main point of debate is over Ferguson’s future once his interim spell ends.
The former Rangers captain may want the job permanently, but the Govan club may look to move in a different direction given his inconsistent tenure so far.
Whatever the outcome, Rangers fans will be eager for more information soon, after months of uncertainty in what has been a miserable campaign.
Change is coming at Ibrox, and it couldn’t arrive quickly enough for many in blue.
