Rangers takeover: Huge Paraag Marathe update emerges
Paraag Marathe is among the primary players in the San Francisco 49ers’ deal to buy Rangers this summer.
Everything is understood to be on track and the American consortium, comprising Andrew Cavenagh, even visited Ibrox.
While the deal is not yet rubber-stamped, Dave King, along with a number of shareholders, have agreed to part ways with their stakes in Gers.

Andrea Radrizzani claims that Marathe is busy with the Gers takeover
Marathe is also the chairman of Leeds United – who recently secured promotion back to the Premier League.
While he’s understood to be an extremely hands-on person, in recent weeks, he has been paying attention to Rangers with regard to the takeover.
That’s according to former Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani, an Italian businessman, who has lifted the lid on what has been going on with Marathe: “I speak to him normally a couple of times every month and we stay in touch during the season,” said the Italian [Sky Sports].
“We comment about Leeds, we comment about other football trends, but particularly about Leeds, and we just spoke recently this week when he was in Leeds. But he was also busy at Rangers looking for new opportunities, so I’m in touch with them very often.”

Cavenagh likely to have a hands-on role at Rangers post the takeover
The San Francisco 49ers’ takeover of Rangers, led by Marathe, is a promising development for the Ibrox outfit, as it underscores the seriousness and commitment of the American consortium.
Marathe, despite his hands-on role as Leeds United chairman, has been actively involved in the Gersdeal, with Radrizzani revealing Marathe’s recent focus on the club during visits to Ibrox.

This signals that the 49ers view the Glasgow outfit as a strategic investment, not a secondary project, aiming to leverage their expertise in sports management to elevate Rangers.
With the deal on track and shareholders like King agreeing to sell, the 49ers’ financial backing could provide Rangers with the resources needed to close the gulf with Celtic and compete in Europe, especially after their Europa League run.
While Marathe’s focus may remain split due to Leeds’ Premier League return, Cavenagh’s expected hands-on role at the club ensures dedicated leadership.
Cavenagh’s composed demeanour, football knowledge, and prior positive impressions at Ibrox suggest he can effectively steer the club.
This blend of Marathe’s strategic oversight and Cavenagh’s direct involvement positions the Light Blues for a transformative era under ambitious ownership.
