Ferguson future at Rangers: McCoist makes brutal claim about new Ibrox manager
Ally McCoist has made an admission about whether Barry Ferguson will want to stay at Rangers beyond this season.
The former Scotland international replaced Philippe Clement as the interim manager at Ibrox, leading to a positive atmosphere among the fanbase.
While the ex-midfielder will surely want to stay at the Gers for longer, his domestic record since taking charge hasn’t been the best.
The Light Blues’ latest draw in the Scottish Premiership came against Celtic on Sunday (4 May), and a fresh claim has been made about Ferguson’s future after the Old Firm derby.

Rangers stay may not be fancied by Ferguson
Ferguson may not fancy staying at the Glaswegian outfit after his interim stint ends, McCoist says.
The Gers icon believes the 47-year-old head coach has done a decent job at the Light Blues, but the prospective new owners may look in another direction.

McCoist admits the US consortium could consider keeping Ferguson, but the ex-midfielder may not want to stay.
Speaking on talkSPORT (6 May, 6:57), the former Scottish forward said: “I think he’s done fine since coming in. I think the new people coming in will want their own man. Whether they keep Barry on, which is something to think about. But I think they’ll go in another direction. I might be wrong. But I think they’ll do that.
“I’m not sure Barry would fancy it right now to be brutally honest.”
49ers Enterprises must choose right manager at Ibrox
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are close to completing their takeover of the Glaswegian outfit and will have many crucial decisions to make soon.
Ferguson’s future at Ibrox is something the prospective new owners must make clear, but it doesn’t look like the ex-Scotland international will become permanent manager.
The Light Blues will then need to appoint a new head coach soon, with planning for the upcoming transfer window necessary.
Rangers should invest heavily in their squad when the takeover is complete to get back to winning ways next season.
The Americans must sign quality players in the upcoming transfer window and sell those deemed surplus to requirements.
To make those squad decisions, the manager will definitely have a big say, and it remains to be seen who Gretar Steinsson decides to bring at Ibrox.
The fans will want to see the Bears compete with Celtic immediately in the upcoming campaign, and a strong character in the dugout will arguably be needed to do so.
With the final games of the season nothing to write home about, all eyes will be on the takeover and the decisions that’ll subsequently be made.
