49ers Enterprises to cut off voices of current Rangers shareholders in boardroom latest

Rangers are nearing a takeover from US-based 49ers Enterprises, which should hopefully spring a turnaround in fortunes in Glasgow.

Rangers are about to finish one of their worst campaigns in recent memory, and will end the season trophyless again.

Major changes are needed at every level at Ibrox, and a deal for the 49ers to take charge may be completed in the coming weeks.

Gers fans will want to see fresh faces leading the club, and there has now been a positive development in this regard surrounding the takeover.

Rangers set for fresh faces in boardroom

Rangers need fresh ideas coming from the top level of the club, and they have already been boosted by the arrival of Kevin Thelwell as a new sporting director.

However, there are fears that the takeover, which would see some of the current regime retain minority shares, would keep current board members on in decision-making roles.

Chris Jack has now revealed positive news that the new regime will have full control of the club once the takeover is complete.

“Some fans had expressed concern that the current shareholders and directors would still have a voice given that they will retain percentages of their stakes,” he reported via the Rangers Review (May 6).

“That will not be the case. Significant changes will take place around the boardroom table, and it will be the new faces rather than the old guard that are driving Rangers in the coming seasons.”

Rangers need fresh ideas throughout the club

Rangers need to act quickly to try and close the gap to Celtic, who have been utterly dominant in the last few years.

The dismal showing this season across all competitions shows that Rangers need a whole clean slate in their rebuild.

Barry Ferguson looks set to be replaced as manager, and a lot of work will need to be done in the transfer window to improve the quality of the squad.

A completely fresh executive team making decisions, with a new manager and several new players, could inject new life into Rangers and help them avoid making the same mistakes they have made since they last won the Scottish Premiership title in 2021.

Once the announcement of the takeover finally comes in the next few weeks, fans will be waiting eagerly for further changes to be finalised and put in place to spring this new era into life over the summer.
