Thompson ‘baffled’ by Nick Walsh controversy in Rangers v Celtic
Rangers saw out a 1-1 draw with Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the year.
Cyriel Dessers had put Barry Ferguson’s side 1-0 up in the first half to grab his 25th goal of the season.
However, Adam Idah found the net just before the hour mark to ensure the points were shared at the Ibrox.
The game could have gone either way at many points but the result ultimately leaves Rangers winless in six games in all competitions.
Yet, right at the end, the outcome could have been different as Rangers had a big shout for a penalty.

Thompson believes Rangers should have had a penalty
With around 10 minutes to go, Ianis Hagi managed to wriggle into the Celtic box before he was brought down.
This prompted a big outcry from supporters and the Rangers bench as they were certain they were owed a penalty.
Yet, after a quick VAR check, these protests were quickly waved away by referee Nick Walsh as the game eventually ended 1-1.
Many believed that the challenge was fair, with Sutton stating that it wasn’t a penalty.
However, former Rangers star Steven Thompson believes that Rangers should have had a spot kick and a chance to win the match.
He told BBC Sportsound: “That’s a penalty kick. On first viewing, for me it’s a penalty kick. The ball breaks in the box, Hagi’s going to get on to it and he’s spun to the deck.”

Rangers deserved to win Old Firm derby
While the match eventually ended in a draw, Rangers can count themselves unlucky they did take all three points.
In the first half, Ferguson’s side were excellent and should have been further in front against Celtic.
The visitor’s goal was also fortunate as it was originally called offside but this was overruled by VAR.
For a side that has had a lot of criticism of late, the squad certainly stepped up for the derby and deserved to win the match overall.
Now the squad must bounce back with a win against Aberdeen next weekend and finally end their terrible winless run.
Good performances are only worth anything if they can be followed up with victories and that is now the challenge for Ferguson’s Rangers.
