Raskin MOTM as 4/10 teammate stinks up Ibrox – Rangers ratings v Celtic

Rangers had to settle for a point against Celtic on Sunday, despite having taken the lead earlier in the game.

Nico Raskin thought he had given his side the lead in the first half of the game, but the goal was ruled out for being offside. Rangers struggled to get up to their best in the first half, with disappointment over some of the performances in the side.

Cyriel Dessers made up for it just before half-time, though, as he netted his 14th league goal of the season so far.

Celtic levelled things in the second half when they were awarded a goal after it had initially been ruled out for offside.

The game probably didn’t get up to the usual levels you’d expect from an Old Firm Derby but both sides were giving it their all in the final minutes of the game, but neither side managed to get a serious opportunity.

Nevertheless, a point against a Celtic side who won the league title is not a bad result for Barry Ferguson who always seems to do okay in these big occasions.

Dessers Rangers future continues to be mooted

Dessers got on the scoresheet once again against Celtic, adding to his impressive tally for the campaign.

The striker has been able to rack up the goals in both league action and in the Europa League, showing his ability to pop up at the last moment with a goal to save his side at times.

Dessers has been in goal scoring form this season.

Nevertheless, there continues to be plenty of speculation surrounding the future of the 30-year-old at Rangers with reports that he is attracting interest from abroad ahead of the summer transfer window.

Furthermore, the Gers are reportedly open to letting him leave Ibrox at the end of the campaign in the hope of bringing in a new face and fresher blood.

The striker was not at his best throughout against Celtic and probably could have contributed more to his side’s efforts throughout the afternoon.

However, once again, he showed his ability to appear when needed, scoring in the first half just moments after Adam Idah failed to convert at the other end.

You can understand why there is speculation surrounding his future, but there have to be questions posed about who the Light Blues will be able to pick up in the summer transfer market that could contribute at the same levels consistently that Dessers does.
