Raskin desperate for Premier League move ASAP amid major Rangers exit claim

Nico Raskin has been a standout performer for Rangers this season, inevitably leading to talk of a summer exit.

The 24-year-old was recently rewarded for his form at Ibrox this term with his first two senior Belgium caps.

Raskin was also crowned Rangers‘ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at last week’s award ceremony.

However, Rangers now have a battle on their hands retaining Raskin this summer, as he has been tipped for the exit.

Rangers play their home games at Ibrox.

Rangers may cash in on Raskin

Raskin has two years to run on his Rangers contract and he has a history of running down deals before swapping clubs.

That is something Rangers simply cannot afford to happen, and therefore selling him this summer if a high offer is made could make sense.

In the view of Derek Ferguson, speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, a move to a Premier League club is something Raskin is clearly looking for at this stage in his career.

“I think that’s what he wants anyway. If I’m being brutally honest, he’s only at Rangers as a stepping stone,” Ferguson said.

His way of thinking is to get down to England as quick as. For that you have to produce, and he’s been one of our better performers.

If we can get some money for him from an English club, he’s capable of going down there and performing.

He’s got two years to go on his contract. We’ve constantly let players run down their contracts and we can’t do that with Raskin.

But if a deal is made that works for us and works for Raskin, he’s maybe one to get out the door this summer.

He’s one of our better players but Kevin Thelwell needs to be looking at this. I do think he’ll leave in the summer.”

Rangers must sell before buying this summer

The 49ers are on course to complete their takeover of Rangers before long, but that does not mean the American investors can simply spend, spend, spend.

Indeed, Rangers must sell players first, and Raskin is probably the player – along with Hamza Igamane – with the biggest value this summer.

In an ideal world, Rangers would get another year out of Raskin before then cashing in next summer, but that is too big a risk to take.
