Rangers news manager: Neil Warnock ‘truth’ detailed as he’s spotted at Ibrox
Rangers could make a surprise appointment with Neil Warnock being namedropped as a potential new manager.
Barry Ferguson’s future in Govan is uncertain after a mixed run of results since taking the reins from Philippe Clement.
The likes of Steven Gerrard and Marco Rose have been linked to the vacancy if the Gers legend is handed his marching orders at the end of the season.
However, the former Aberdeen manager could be a shock contender after what happened during the Old Firm clash with Celtic (4 May).

Warnock in contention for Rangers role
Warnock has been out of work since leaving his interim role with The Dons in March last year but was spotted at Ibrox for the clash with the Hoops.
Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker and Chris Sutton discussed the prospect of the 76-year-old taking over in Govan.
Speaking live while the clash was taking place (4 May, 12:38 pm), Crocker said: “Former Aberdeen manager Neil Warnock watching the game, Aberdeen come here next Sunday, Neil probably pushing himself for the Rangers job as well, wouldn’t be surprised.”
Sutton responded, saying: “Might be an element of truth in there.”
Crocker replied that: “He’d certainly fancy it.”

Rangers should not appoint Warnock
The Gers supporters would be livid if Warnock were appointed by the 49ers Enterprises group as their first big decision.
While he is definitely an entertaining character, he is far beyond his peak as a manager at the top level, the Light Blues need more than what he can offer.
Stats | Warnock |
Managed | 1433 |
Won | 560 |
Draws | 399 |
Lost | 474 |
The new ownership must get the decision of Ferguson’s successor spot on, otherwise the gap to the Bhoys will only increase rather than getting closer.
The former Leeds United boss would no doubt be interested in the role, as Crocker said but it should not be considered as a realistic option despite what Sutton followed up with.
He is probably referring to Warnock’s admission in 2012 that he had spoken to higher-ups at Auchenhowie about taking the job in the past but it could just be another attempt to wind up the Rangers fans.
One thing is for sure, there is no chance that the legendary manager will be in the dugout in Govan anytime soon, that ship has sailed.
The Bears need an exciting boss, they need to be ambitious in their selection. The veteran would be the complete opposite of that.
