Chris Jack issues Nedim Bajrami Rangers exit claim after Celtic clash

Nedim Bajrami started for Rangers as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Celtic in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

The Albanian led the line with Cyriel Dessers occupying a left-wing position at Ibrox.

Bajrami stayed on the pitch for 66 minutes and, after a relatively underwhelming display, was taken off by Barry Ferguson.

Chris Jack admits Bajrami may never play another Old Firm derby

Chris Jack admitted that the inclusion of Bajrami may have surprised a number of people.

Ferguson opted to start the Albanian and leave Hamza Igamane on the bench, an arguably unpopular call.

The Moroccan has been a lethal goal threat for Rangers this season and while he’s not been in form recently, that is the case with most of the players.

He wrote in the Rangers Review: “The name of Nedim Bajrami stood out when the teams were announced an hour or so before kick-off. Few would have predicted that the Albanian would be back in the starting line-up after what has been an underwhelming few months.

“There is every chance that this could be Bajrami’s final appearance in this fixture as thoughts turn to the work that will need to be done on this squad over the summer.”

Rangers have to cash in on Bajrami in the summer

Gers must sell Bajrami in the summer transfer window, as the £3.4million signing from Sassuolo has failed to justify his price tag or meet expectations at Ibrox.

Despite early promise, including a goal against Malmo, his output has been underwhelming, with only one league goal since December’s League Cup final.

He has been slammed by fans and pundits alike, noting his inability to influence key matches, such as the Old Firm derby, where he struggled in an advanced role.

His lack of consistency highlights his unsuitability for Gers’ high-pressure environment.

With the 49ers Enterprises poised to invest, selling Bajrami to recoup funds is crucial to finance a more impactful attacking midfielder.

His technical ability hasn’t translated to the Scottish Premiership’s demands, and Rangers cannot afford to persist with a player who’s proven he’s not good enough.
