Rangers set for ‘easy contract talks’ with Ianis Hagi after new reveal – Exclusive

Ianis Hagi has been one of the stories of the season at Rangers, not always for the right reasons.

Starting the campaign nowhere to be seen after a contract dispute with the Ibrox club and Philippe Clement, he eventually burst onto the scene.

After a red card on his first game back for Rangers, he scored memorable goals against Celtic and Aberdeen in an ultimately disappointing season for everyone involved in Govan.

Hagi was recently linked with an exit from Glasgow, given his contract is expiring, but he shut down those suggestions in a recent interview.

Rangers to wait on takeover for contract talks

Hagi saying he wants to stay is positive, but it will all depend on what direction Rangers go in once Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers seal their takeover.

Dan Plumley has insisted that negotiations are always easier when a player is so open with their stance.

The football finance expert did warn, however, that after a poor season and a takeover to come, those factors need to be included in renegotiations.

“It’s always easier if the player wants to stay,” he exclusively told Ibrox News. “Obviously, it makes negotiations easier.

There will still be things that will need to be considered within that; no negotiation is that straightforward, but if you have the player onside, that’s one of the biggest things.

Of course, there are lots of other things wrapped up within that at Rangers at the minute, and looking at how the season plays out and the takeover, but those are factors that we need to look at.

Ultimately, if the player has come out and said that’s not true and he’s looking to stay, it makes your opening conversation easier when you’re looking at those renegotiations.”

Hagi to stay at Rangers

With Barry Ferguson still only in interim charge, whoever becomes the new permanent manager of Rangers will likely have a massive say on this matter.

Hagi may have to wait past the traditional deadline of his contract for this to be resolved at Ibrox, especially if he wants to stick around.
