Ferguson eager for Angus Gunn transfer at Rangers as another Ibrox exit nears
Norwich City’s announcement that Angus Gunn is to leave Carrow Road this summer will no doubt have many clubs on alert – Rangers among them.
The Scotland international will exit Norwich when his contract expires in the coming weeks and is unlikely to be short of suitors.
Journalist Derek Clark was among those to urge Rangers to go after free agent Gunn as either the first-choice option next season or back-up to Jack Butland.
It comes amid a hint from Liam Kelly that he could leave Rangers this summer if he is not a regular between the sticks next season, with that another possible Ibrox exit.
Gunn can challenge Butland for number one spot at Rangers
The links with Rangers are obvious given Gunn is a Scotland international, combined with the fact that Butland has been massively off it this season.
And in the view of Derek Ferguson, the brother of current boss Barry Ferguson, it makes total sense for the Gers to go after Gunn as an upgrade on Kelly.
Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News: “He’s a Scottish international, so why not?

“Butland’s obviously fallen out of favour under Barry, which was a fair decision because you can’t get away with making mistake after mistake.
“Liam Kelly is a good keeper, but is he a first choice? I’m not so sure. So Gunn, why not? He’s a good keeper and can certainly help. I’d have him.”
Rangers need multiple new signings this summer
Bringing in a new goalkeeper is not exactly a priority for Rangers, but it is certainly something that needs considering.
It is expected to be a busy summer of transfer activity at Ibrox, with many players coming in and likely even more heading out.
Given the fact that 29-year-old Gunn is a proven, quality goalkeeper and is available for free, this would be the perfect transfer to kick things off under the new regime.
Throw into the mix Hearts skipper Lawrence Shankland, who continues to be linked with a Bosman to Ibrox himself, and things are already starting to click into place.
It will take far more than that to close the gap on Celtic, of course, but it is certainly a start after what has been a terrible campaign.
