Ferguson ‘disgusted’ at Rangers players as mass changes planned – Exclusive
Rangers players and fans alike are now counting down the days until a hugely disappointing 2024-25 campaign comes to an end.
A run into the latter stages of the Europa League kept the campaign alive until mid-April, but defeat to Athletic Bilbao put paid to that.
Now, Barry Ferguson has four games to navigate, the first of which is an Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday (4 May).
Ferguson is highly unlikely to be kept on beyond this summer, and that could see a number of changes made to the side in the coming weeks.

Barry Ferguson tipped to tear up Rangers line-up
Ferguson dare not make too many changes for the Celtic game, with that a match that has plenty riding on it even if the title race is over.
However, Derek Ferguson – speaking exclusively to Ibrox News – believes brother Barry will now look to give fringe players and youngsters a chance beyond this weekend.
“I was so disappointed for Barry in terms of the players, because I think he could have made more changes against St Mirren,” Ferguson said.
“But he put trust in his players and, if I’m being totally honest, they threw it back in his face. It was another performance domestically that we’ve seen countless times – it was horrible.
Opponent | Venue | Date |
Celtic | Ibrox | 4 May |
Aberdeen | Ibrox | 11 May |
Dundee United | Ibrox | 14 May |
Hibernian | Easter Road | 17 May |
“After the game I heard Barry say ‘what’s the point?’. You can see the frustration in him. I was surprised he kept faith in one or two players – I certainly wouldn’t have, but he obviously has a different relationship with that and trusted them.
“That’s all right out the window now. Take out the Old Firm game and I think it’s probably time to give some of the younger guys a chance. I’m certainly a wee bit disgusted at some of the players.”

Rangers youngsters could get chance to impress
After facing Celtic this weekend, Rangers then host Aberdeen and Dundee United, before travelling to Hibernian on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season.
While no game can be entirely written off from a Rangers perspective, the long-term picture is more important and that is why Ferguson has to change things up.
There is only so much you can learn from starting certain players week in, week out. Instead, it’s time to give the youngsters a run-out.
They certainly cannot do any worse that the regulars.
