Celtic-mad Shebahn Aherne makes Rangers admission, Agbonlahor reacts
Rangers have had to settle for a season in Celtic’s shadow as mismanagement at Ibrox has left the Gers well off where they should be.
Celtic have already got their hands on the Scottish Premiership trophy, with Rangers not putting up much of a fight this season.
That could all be set to change soon, though, as the 49ers Enterprises are looking to complete a takeover at Ibrox, which would make the future look much more optimistic.

Shebahn Aherne shares truth about Rangers
Although Celtic will have enjoyed having bragging rights throughout the season so far, there is no doubt that the two sides enjoy being in competition with one another.
You only have to look at the clashes between the two sides this term, where Rangers seemingly turned on their performances for one of the only times this season.
In the meantime, the Old Firm rivals will continue to enjoy taking their digs against each other when they can and Gabby Agbonlahor took his opportunity to wind Celtic super fan Shebahn Aherne up on it.
With the pair presenting talkSPORT Breakfast (1 May, 6:34am), the show returned with Simply the Best playing in the background and Agbonlahor said: “Wow. One of my favourite songs.”
Aherne replied to say: “You’re trying to make me bite. Well, get original.”
However, the Celtic supporter went on to admit: “You know what? It’s a shame that it’s a Rangers song because you’re not allowed to say this, but it is a banger. You’re not allowed to sing it out loud and stuff.”
When probed by Agbonlahor if she would turn it off when it comes on, Aherne went on to say: “I’m just out of habit, I’m like ugh, but actually, I’m like banger.”
Rangers ready to challenge Celtic once more
Supporters at Ibrox are waiting patiently for the 49ers to complete their takeover of Rangers with excitement over what that will mean for the future.
Clearly, the aim is to get back to the top of the Scottish Premiership table and compete with their rivals once more to be the most successful club in Scotland.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Celtic | 1 | 80 | 84 |
Rangers | 2 | 33 | 67 |
There will have to be some patience from the Gers as there is plenty of work to be done, which is likely to take time to complete over a series of seasons.
However, if the wheels can start moving towards a brighter time in Glasgow, there will no doubt be plenty of relief at Rangers.
What the future holds is yet to be seen and there are some big decisions to be made first, including what the future holds for Barry Ferguson, but these will shape the immediate progression of the club.
