49ers ‘set Rangers alarm bells’ after Daniel Farke sack news at Leeds United

Rangers may be affected if 49ers Enterprises sack Daniel Farke at Leeds United despite winning Premier League promotion.

Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe were spotted at Ibrox recently as they look to complete their takeover of the Gers soon.

The US consortium are expected to buy controlling shares at the Light Blues soon, with part of the American ownership group also owning the West Yorkshire outfit.

Farke’s future at Leeds is uncertain due to his record in the English top flight, and amid the German manager’s links to the Glaswegian outfit, concerns have been raised regarding the 49ers.

Rangers may follow same path as Leeds under 49ers

Farke’s future being under consideration at the Whites is a concern, Scott Burns says.

The Reach journalist is baffled that the 49ers are thinking about replacing the German manager despite his apparent success in the current campaign.

Burns feels the former Norwich City boss’ sacking would set alarm bells off as it wouldn’t guarantee managerial certainty at Ibrox.

Speaking on Hotline Live (30 April), the journalist said: “Reports over the last few days that [Farke’s] position is under threat are a concern for me. It looks like he’s done an amazing job. [Leeds] were one of the favourites to come up. They’ve done that, and they’re playing really good football, and they’ve got an identity.

“What more do Leeds fans want? And it goes back to what do the owners want. It’d be unfair if he lost his job. That would actually set alarm bells off for me. At Rangers, for example, if a manager does well, it might not be enough to keep him in a job.”

Cavenagh and 49ers to make tough decisions at Ibrox

Cavenagh and the 49ers will have some important decisions to make once they complete their takeover of the Glaswegian outfit, including the appointment of a new manager.

Barry Ferguson took interim charge at Ibrox after Philippe Clement’s sacking, but the former Scotland international may not be handed the job permanently.

The ex-midfielder brought much-needed positivity back to the Light Blues after his arrival, but he hasn’t been able to improve their domestic form.

Rangers have already appointed Kevin Thelwell as the new sporting director, with the Englishman set to arrive after leaving Everton at the end of the season.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the US consortium make more such changes in the Gers’ boardroom as they look to build a successful team.

With several players’ futures up in the air, the recruitment department will have their work cut out for them in the coming weeks, as the likes of Vaclav Cerny and Ianis Hagi may leave soon.

The 49ers have shown initiative at Leeds, and Farke’s sacking should encourage the Ibrox faithful that the prospective new owners are willing to do everything necessary to achieve success.
